REMAINS OF THE DAY updates and information:
I've decided to keep your access to the videos and class blog OPEN. Originally if you registered prior to June 2010 your access ended this coming December. No more! I'm postponing the cut off date indefinitely. This class has been like standing under one giant shining lucky star. Enrollment has been consistent since the class began last December. I never imagined it would grow so large. Or that I would form bonds with so many of the people in the class. Or that so many nice people would show off their journals and spread the word this far and wide.
THANK YOU. I am grateful.
Kas, one of the generous ROD class members emailed me the other day to say she wanted to sponser someone in need. In other words PAY their full tuition. That really happened. I'm going to contribute another 2 classes for someone else. So 3 free spots in the class. Send me an email with a brief description of your circumstances. Special consideration given to the unemployed, recently laid off, or stay-at-home moms with no extra dough for yourself. When the spots are filled I'll update this post with the info. Naturally, your name will be kept private.
*click on the words "email me" top right sidebar
***All 3 free class spots are filled as of 10/12***

your kitchen table are is ADORABLE! I love the splashes of red! I think that I have a serious crush on you! :D

Thanks so much Mary for keeping the class and videos open. Unfortunaley I took sick just after signing up for the class and have not been well enough to get started on my journal. However needless to say, I have been collecting up my bits and pieces and "remains of the day" and enjoyed watching the videos numerous times. So I'm doing the happy dance today with this news. Thanks for all the inspiration, love your travel journals! Hope to be back on track real soon so I get cracking creating my own journal. Have a wonderful day!

What a delightful surprise! I had just been trying to figure out how I was going to cram in another session of watching the videos one more time before December. Thank you!

A sigh of relief! I watched the videos over and over again in hopes of committing them to memory. Just last night I bound the journal together. How fast a year does fly and was hoping that you had forgotten about removing the blog. Thanks so much for keeping it going and for the both of you to offer paid spots is most gracious. Thanks again!

Mary Ann,
Your site is so inspiring, and your kindness overwhelming re: offering 2 classes as a gift. What is your e-mail address? I would love to drop a line to be considered.
Thank you again.

I could not believe the sky that evening. It was a stunning experience. There was lightning inside those glowing columns of cloud mist that were trailing between the sky and earth. The color was indescribable, an illuminated apricot peach pink pearl, exquisite. I'm so glad you captured it! I won't likely ever forget the sight.

Hi, Mary Ann:
I recently signed up for your "Remains of the Day" course. I enjoyed it very much. I pretty much watched the videos one right after another. I can't wait to make my first RotD journal. It was serendipity that I signed up for your class. At the same time I was going through the videos, I was going through boxes of my Dad's ephemora. He died a year ago and I've had a hard time getting through his stuff because it's a little depressing. I opened up a box, though, that had his report card from 1937! I also found tons of travel stuff from when my Dad was stationed in the military and we lived in Europe for a few years. I can't wait to incorporate all of these treasures in my RotD Journal! I'll send you a picture when it's done. Thanks for sharing your work in the world.

I was pleased to see the exact kind of kitchen chairs I grew up with at your table! I think we had that tablecloth, too! Very generous of you both to offer scholarships for the class!

Mary Ann, you are the BEST! I haven't actively displayed pics of my ROD journal in progress, but that doesn't mean that I haven't gotten 110% from the class and your awesome instruction so far! Thank you SO much for deciding to leave the class open! This year has become an extraordinarily busy time for me with my family, and a host of other things that need doing, and your decision to keep the class open will give me the time I need to actually be able to finish all the wonderful things I started! I read your blog and soak in your pics and travel videos like a sponge, and I know that I should leave more comments, but how often can I repeat FABULOUS, AWESOME, etc.? You have a unique and beautifully uplifting style, and the way you share it with your students--including the little ones--is truly an inspiration. Hats off to your generous, artistic nature! And pat yourself on the back, too!

Recently found your blog and fell in love - your just right up my ally and I love reading about your adventures since I don't have them like you do. Your so fantastic to offer two classesfor someone who can't afford it right now. I was debating taking this but now I gotta do it. Can't wait. Keep this blog going, your a bright spot.

Your spirit shines in your sharing of your most generous gifts..you are wonderful. I have yet to complete a ROD journal but the time is there and I will share when I do my first one. To move at my pace without a deadline has been very relaxing and the process so enjoyable with just creating.

Mary Ann, Does this mean that if I sign up for the class now, things won't really expire in June? I work fulltime and want to do this but nervous about dropping so much money if I can't finish and it goes away in June... Thanks for your patience!

Mary Ann, thank you so much for this generous gesture! I'm delighted to know that I can go back to the videos in my own time. To be honest, I haven't had much chance to do all the stuff I wanted, and I was thinking my time was running out. I've started studying photography, and the homework for that has been quite intensive, and has taken up most of my free time! I'm sure you'll find you've done the right thing - I think more people will sign up to do your courses if they know they can access your videos anytime - the problem is fitting it all in... isn't it? Let me know if you decide to do the same with 'Stencilry' as I have the same issues there...! Meanwhile, loving your blog, as always. Best wishes Martina x
