The Calamity Physics course I've been enrolled in at a little elementary school close to downtown has ended. For the next 6 weeks I'm a free agent. Filled with the knowledge of my impending flight from responsibility I took a different route to school this morning, straight through the Broadway Theatre District. The rising sun cut wide swaths of gold across the drowsy streets.
With 20 minutes to spare before the first bell rang, I put down the camera and headed west. Leaving behind that river of morning light trickling down through the buildings.
After school I began preparations in earnest. More english breakfast tea and cream were purchased, books were gathered, the bed was plumped, pillows fluffed, play clothes laid out, house shoes located, porch tidied, art table straightened, phone unplugged. I take getting ready to do NOTHING very seriously.
Yes siree bob, I do.
Oh by the way, one of the photos above is a figment of my imagination. More rearranging to suit my needs. I knew you wouldn't mind.

I'm going to stick my neck out and guess it was the Chinese lanterns you love so much.
Have a wonderful relaxing refreshing time. Perhaps you'll come back to us now and then on these pages?

Wow just being there where you are would be my 6 wks. of bliss. How awesome for you to be off. Everyone needs a break from the same old things. Enjoy yourself, create or read or just stare at something everyday. I find I can sit and stare and not do anything at all for a long couple of hours. It's wonderfully peaceful. Hope you're doing well. I won't have off for quite a few weeks. You can read about it on my blog.....

Is the theater district the old part of LA on the back way down to Union Station? Where the theaters are still standing but not operating as theaters, with storefronts selling things like Ropas para Quinceaneras? I remember riding a city bus through there early one morning a couple of years ago on my way to catch a train to San Jose and truly loving the old downtown.
I like your school year schedule - I have said that before but sprinkling six weeks through the year, instead of two months in a clump seems more humane.
